BEACH PALACE – Cancun
There are so many choices when it comes to Cancun All Inclusive resorts so it’s always helpful when someone comes home with real life experiences. Thanks to Air Canada Vacations Area Sales manager for this helpful report.
I have recently returned from Cancun, staying at the Beach Palace (for work). This property is
only a 25 – 30 minute drive from the airport and is right on the Cancun Hotel Zone. It is walking
distance to La Isla Shopping Centre (3 minutes) and Flamingo Plaza (2 minutes). The beach here
is beautiful, wide and you can walk for miles. One of the guests I was with made a comment
that he was surprised that the beach was not hot like every beach he has been on. The water
is the most beautiful shade of blue I have ever seen. I kept taking pictures of it, as every day it
looked more beautiful.
The hotel is a high-rise hotel, 12 floors of Accommodation, with a main floor, mezzanine and
SkyBar which is the roof top patio – two pools, bar and swim up bar. Great views from here!
The accommodation at Beach Palace is contemporary, consisting of; light wood, standard
Palace Resorts bedding (one King or two doubles), in-room double Jacuzzi, flat screen TV,
double vanity, iron/ironing board, in room safe (no charge – laptop size), large balcony, many
adjoining rooms, room service at no extra charge, Biosilk Bath amenities, Complimentary Wifi
throughout the property, Free long distance calls to North America (I called home every day!!!
). The Room is also equipped with a coffee maker, mini-bar (pop, juice, water and beer) and a
liquor dispenser. Rooms can either be oceanfront or lagoonview. Each side has it’s pros and
cons (I was able to experience both). The lagoonview is nice as it gets sun from approximately
4:00pm until Sunset (which you can view only on the lagoon side). The balconies have large
beds on them, so this is a great place to unwind after a busy day at the pool/beach and enjoy
the sunset. The Oceanfront rooms are obviously very nice as well, however, the balconies only
receive sun until around 3:00pm, and if there are any events happening at the pool or at the
ME Cancun, which is beside the Beach Palace, it can be very noisy. One evening, there was an
event at the ME, which went until 6:30am – not the best sleep that evening. Even numbered
rooms are Ocean front, while odd numbered rooms are Lagoon view.
The difference between the regular rooms and Concierge level are the following: Bath
amenities are L’occitane, there is an additional room service menu with select items from each
of the ala carte restaurants, Pillow Menu and Aromatherapy, a complimentary beach bag and a
single cup coffee maker.
My stay at Beach Palace was great. There are three ala carte restaurants (open for dinner only
– no reservations required) – Asian, Italian, Grill. All three are very good. I really enjoyed the
Asian, and no, that is not because I am Chinese! The Buffet is open for Breakfast, Lunch and
Dinner and specializes in Mexican cuisine for Dinner (other selections available). The selections
in the Buffet do not vary much from Lunch to Dinner. Many items at the Buffet are served
fresh from the grill. Also, because the servings at the buffet are not large (in large Steam
Tables), the selection is always quite fresh and replenished frequently. There is also a poolside
Grill which serves Hot Dogs and Hamburgers and a Poolside Bar that serves paninis, ceviche,
hamburgers, etc. Poolside and beachside service is available.
Don’t forget, Palace Resorts offers a $1500.00 resort credit per room (for stays of 5 nights
or longer). This credit can be used towards spa treatments, golf, Room upgrades, wedding
packages, upgraded wine selections, Romantic Dinner, My Palace Memories (Kodak Photo
packages) and excursions. While the excursions are nice to use, please keep in mind that
when your clients use the credit for an excursion, there is a chance that it will lead into a time-
share presentation (so please warn your clients). My recommendation is to use it for Spa
Treatments, of which you can use $300.00 of the $1500.00 towards Spa Treatments and The
Romantic Dinner which includes Lobster and premium champagne for 2 adults. This credit is
also great for your golf clients.
I had a wonderful stay at Beach Palace and would highly recommend this property to you and
your clients. The beaches are beautiful in Cancun and it is so easy to get around. No need to
take cabs from your property to get anywhere! Hop on the bus or go for a nice walk. Cancun is
a wonderful destination and provides another option to your clients besides the Mayan Riviera.
